The HHK Builder tab

The tab marked "HHK Builder" is used to create an index file from the content of the HTML files in the project. You should/can set the following options before creating the index:
  • HTML Help Project: the HHP file that contains the list of files used in the project. Click the Browse button to select a file in the file system or type in the name of the file (including the full path) to it.
  • Output filename: the name of the file you want to save the index to. Click the Browse button to select a file in the file system or type in the name of the file (including the full path) to it.
  • Min. word length: set this to extract only words that have the same or greter number of characters as the value entered
  • Delimiters: a list of characters that breaks words. The default selection should work fine most of the time, but you might want to change this. Note that ASCII characters $1 - $31 are always included (the "control characters")
  • Skiplist: a list of words that should never be included in the index regardless of their length. Enter one word per line in the field
  • Progress: shows the progress of the parsing after you've clicked the Start button
  • Preview HHK: if this button is grayed out, the file specified in Output filename does not exists: click the Start button to create the file or select an existing file. Click the button to view the index file inside HTML Help WorkShop (you must have this program installed).
The HHC Builder tab

The tab "HHC Builder" is used to create a content file with one entry for each file in the project. There are no nested levels or folders: everything is created at the root of the project. Open the resulting HHC file in HTML Help Workshop to add folders and move the entries around. The following options can /should be set before clicking the Start button:
  • HTML Help Project: the HHP file that contains the list of files used in the project. Click the Browse button to select a file in the file system or type in the name of the file (including the full path) to it.
  • Output filename: the name of the file you want to save the content to. Click the Browse button to select a file in the file system or type in the name of the file (including the full path) to it.
  • Use as caption and Use first as caption: checking the first button will use the tagin the HTML file as the text of the content entry; checking the other will use the first tag of the HTML file as the text of the content item. Depending on how you create your HTML file, you might want to change this (HTML Help Workshop always displays the title of the document).
  • Preview HHC: click this button to preview the resulting content file in HTML Help WorkShop. If the button is grayed, the file in Output filename doesn't exist. Click the Start button to create it or select an exisiting file from the file system.
